Next Year Already

Here are the studio photos of the fan back side chair that I'll be teaching at Kelly Mehlers School in Berea next year. You can check his web site soon for more info. For those of you who don't want to wait until next year, there are still openings for the class at Highland Woodworking in Atlanta.

A fellow that sent me to this link about an inshave made by Pfeil. While I already have way more than I need in this department, I am very curious about it. I love their carving tools and the price seems very reasonable for the kind of quality that they produce. If anyone has any experience with this please let me know, thanks.

Pete,

I like the chair, that is going to be tempting to take another class with you at Kelly's. My father-in-law and I had a great time in last years class.

The inshave from Woodcraft is unusable in the "bought" state. It would not cut and the handles were set wrong. I let mine rust for 2 years and then convinced a friend of mine - -he is a pro blacksmith to re-form the blade, move the handles and sharpen the edge. Now it does the job it was supposed to do before I spent the money.

Peter, The Inshave from Woodcraft is a poor investment. I could not get mine to do the work and ended up getting a blacksmith to re-shape the blade, sharpen it and move the angle on the handles. Now, it does the job. Save your money. Phil

Philip,
I'm disappointed to hear this, but not shocked. I'm not sure who gets consulted when they make inshaves, but so few are correct in their geometry! Thanks for the feedback,
Pete
