The New Tripleback

I finished the new triple back for Gerry Moss yesterday and today it's on its way to St. Louis. I was pleased with the scale of the crest. As I was making the chair, I realized that I wanted it to look both like a sack back with a comb and a combback with a sack bow. I was trying to avoid making the crest look like an add on or afterthought, instead trying to make it part of the whole.
All in all I am happy with it, and more importantly, so is Gerry!

Hi Peter--

Great info here, please keep it up! I see in the background of teh tripleback what appears to be your steambox set-up (maybe a Veritas electric kettle, too?). If you have time, can you do a post on steaming and bending? Huge topic, I understand, but I'm sure lots of interest. Is that your only steambox or do you have an "outdoor" model, as well, with maybe a propane tank, etc.?

Thanks for everything.
Kevin

Kevin,
Thanks for the input. I definetely plan to talk about steaming. There are SO many topics! The steamer that you see is my only setup. A simple plywood box with a lee valley kettle. Steaming is really low tech, you don't need a bullet proof setup, just don't build the box too big. More to come!
