A hunk of wood, a hour or two (or five!) later, you have something finished you can take into the house that will provoke the comment "Nice!" from the one you love.<br /><br />The other thing I do to get the feeling I've accomplished something in a short amount of time is to free-style mortise roughly hewed octagonal legs into firewood I've planed one side flat to make 18th Century camping stools/plant stands/side tables.
